The retiring president was thanked for his services for many years; April 23 was chosen as the opening day and Wednesday as practice night. KAIKOURA CRICKET TEAM BEATS WARD The Kalkgura cricket team visited Ward and played an interesting game which was won by the visitors. Kaikoura scored 147 for the loss of nine wickets, and Ward scored 123. The best scores were:— Ward—Davidson 37, Butt 32. G. Hickman 14. Bowling. Dickson took four wickets for 52 runs. Trewin three for. 29. Reid two for 18. Kaikoura—M. Dickson Si, J. A. Reid 31. F. Hobbs 30, P. O’Byrne 22. Bowling, McAlpine took three wickets for 48 runs, Ching three for 39, Davidson two for 51. LITTLE RIVER BEATS VADfCI AT CRICKET Little River played Wainui. at Little River, in the Ranks Peninsula cricket competition. Little River won by 53 runs, making 207. and Wainui 154. The chief scorers for Little River were Topi Robinson 132. P. Steans 24. and for Wainui, T- Warner 55 and W. Webb 19.
