BOY SCOUTS AT NEW BRIGHTON
» —. ANNUAL MEETING OF SUPPORTERS The troop was in a satisfactory condition financially and numerically, and the conduct has been exceptionally good during the year, said Mr A. P., Hopkins, in speaking to the annual report at the annual meeting of the New Brighton Boy Scouts. The report showed the roll numbers to be: Rovers 18, scouts 26, The balance-sheet showed a credit of £lO 6s sd, with assets totalling £2lO 6s sd, and no liabilities. Satisfactory reports outlining the activities of the \mits were presented. Miss Joan Napper was congratulated upon her good work with the cubs. The resignation of Mr Hopkins as group scoutmaster was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place on record the appreciation, of his services. The Mayor (Mr E. L. Smith) congratulated the committee on its good work and the successful year’s activiA resolution expressed sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr E. E. Langford. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, the Hon. D. G, Sullivan; president, the Mayor of New Brighton (Mr E. L. Smith); vice-presidents. Misses S. and A. Ballantyne, Messrs L. W. Hudson, A. M. Chivers, D. S. Turner, A. W. Owles, G. W, Bishop, W. H. Stokes, W. Dixon, A. E. Gott, T. McDowell, A. P. Hopkins, Dr. Joyce Lester, Dr. T. Glasgow; hon. surgeons, Dr. Joyce Lester and Dr. W. T. Glasgow; auditor, Mr A. Arnott; chaplains, the Rev. Mr Bailey, the Rev. F. Gardner Brown, Captain Goffln; solicitor, Mr H. J. S. Goodman; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. Palmer; committee, Mesdames J. Bellamy, F. Blewitt, L. Palmer, and Walker, Messrs S. E. Underhay, G. W. Cattermole, and L. Beardsley. Mrs J. Bellamy was elected a life member of the committee.
