PERSONALITY CONCERT
FINE IMPERSONATIONS BY HOWARD MILHOLLAND
The opportunities of seeing the class of entertainment provided by Frederick Shipton at the Radiant Hall last evening do not often occur. A good attendance saw the first of the Personality Concert series, presenting Howard Milholland and Eva Garcia, from the United States.
Milholland justified his reputation as one of the greatest humorists his country has produced. He gave talented impersonations in several Negro numbers and showed deep understanding of that people in “Tne Race Question” (Dunbar) and “Street Cries of Old San Francisco” (Keeler). “Pro and Con” (Powers), a romantic study, required very different technique, but the impersonator was equally at home. He impressed by his ability to make quick changes. The lecitation of “Vagabond’s House,” written by Blanding, drew well-merited applause from the audience. Milholland gave a sincere and convincing presentation of the part of one planning a dream house. ' Much of the pleasure of the impersonations came from the accompaniment of the Spanish pianist, Eva Garcia. She gave several further numbers, notably a group of Spanish compositions “Sequidilla” (Albeniz), “Rondo” (Rondinquez), "Madrid” (Turina), and “Jota” (Larregla).
