TWO HOLES-IN-ONE AT RUSSLEY

Two holes in one have been registered at the Russley golf course recently. Mrs T. W. Thomson, a non-handicap player, holed her tee shot at the seventh, and K. Williams, the club’s professional, holed his at the tenth last week-end.

OPEN DAY AT RUSSLEY ON SUNDAY

WINTER SEASON TO BEGIN TO-MORROW

An open day will be held by the' Russley Golf Club on Sunday. Competitions will be:—Morning, four-ball bogey; afternon, stroke handicaps. Players are to arrange their own partners and opponents. Post entries will be taken at the club-house from 9 a.m.

The official opening of the winter season will take place to-morrow afternoon, when a mixed four-ball bogey will be played, players to arrange their own partners and opponents. —8

SIMES CUP TOURNEY AT HANMER

The tie in the eight-hole bogey match on the concluding day of the Simes Cup tournament at Hanmer Springs last weekend, has been, decided in favour of S. L. Jamieson and E. Bailey on a count-back from C. Bonnington and C. A. Rattray. The 16-hole bogey match was won by T. Menzies and T. Maher with a card of 4 up.

*CHERTSEY RECREATION CLUB

There was a large attendance at the Chertsey Hall on Tuesday evening, when the opening meeting of the Chertsey Recreation Club was held. Mr W. Newburn declared the season open, in the absence of the president, Mr W. H, Wilkinson. Yankee tabletennis tournaments among the men and women present were won by Mr and Mrs F. Magson respectively. Competitions in darts and quoits were won by Messrs John Doig and CW.-Newburn respectively. .... .

ASHBURTON HAKATERE LODGE

The fortnightly meeting of the Hafcatere Lodge, Ashburton, was held on Wednesday evening, with the N.G. (Bro. A. Capon) presiding. Sick pay was passed for 10 members. One candidate was . proposed for membership.' It was decided that the initiation next lodge night should be conducted by the past grands. A social hour concluded the evening.
