CHILD HELD TO RANSOM

WEALTHY AMERICAN PLEADS WITH KIDNAPPERS

NEW YORK, March 1. G-men (Federal Investigation Agents) have confirmed the report that Philip Levine,, aged 12, son of a wealthy attorney, has been kidnapped. The boy has been missing since February 24. In response to the father’s request neither local nor Federal authorities is participating in the case, in order to permit an attempt to pay the ransom demanded, which is reported to be 60,000 dollars, to obtain the boy’s release. Mr Levine, through the press and by radio, pleaded with' t the kidnappers not to harm his son. He said the ransom was ready and named an intermediary. He urged the kidnappers to get into touch with him immediately. This is the fifth major kidnapping in the United States in which the victim has been a child.
