VITAL STATISTICS IN FEBRUARY
RETURNS FOR CHRISTCHURCH There were more births in Christchurch last month than in February last year, but fewer deaths and marriages. Figures issued yesterday by the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages in Christchurch (Mr J. J. McGahev) showed an increase of live in The number of births last month, but a decrease of 19 in the number of deaths. The returns for February of this year, compared with those of last year.
DEATHS INCREASE AT DUNEDIN
(rBKSS ASSOCIATION TBI.EOEA U.) DUNEDIN, February 28. During February. 74 deaths wore registered in Dunedin, compared with only 59 in the corresponding month of last year. On the otheb hand, the number of births for the month just closed did not show a corresponding increase, only one more birth being recorded than in February, 1937. Marriages were not so numerous during February, only 62 being recorded, compared with 66 for the corresponding month of last year. The following are the vital statis-
