IMPROVED TYPE OF BUTTER BOX
REGULATIONS BEING FRAMED (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEOEAM.) WELLINGTON, February 28. The dairy produce general regulations which are being consolidated, will, says the Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin), contain provision for improvements in the saranac type of butter box about which complaints have been made that it was not providing adequate protection against mould growth, and that the looseness of its structure permitted the entry of dust and dirt. Provision was therefore being made that on and after August 1 export butter must be packed in a sub-standard box of fin ends and fin sides, tops, and bottoms. All boards must be planed.
