Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., returned last evening from Dunedin.

Mr G. W. Hutchison, newly-chosen District Governor of Rotary in New Zealand, returned to Auckland last evening after attending the national conference of Rotary Clubs. Mr L. T. K. Allison, who has served for nine years as finance secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association, Christchurch, has resigned for private reasons. Mr Allison's resignation was accepted with regret at a meeting of the Board of Managers of the Association, and appreciation of his services was placed on record.

The Rev. Solomon Katz, Jewish Rabbi in Wellington, is visiting Christchurch on holiday, and is staying at the United Service Hotel.

Lord Dormer arrived in Christchurch last evening and is staying at the United Service Hotel.

Sir James Leigh-Wood, chairman of the Empire Games Federation, was a passenger from the north on the steamer express yesterday morning. He was accompanied by Lady Leigh-Wood.

Mr W. H. Lee, who represented S. A. Smith and Company, Ltd., for 13 years in Canterbury and Otago, and who was lately transferred to Auckland, has been appointed a director of the company.
