SUMNER LOAN PROPOSALS
STATEMENT IN “THE PRESS” DENIED The statement appearing in “The Press” of yesterday that the efforts of the Sumner Borough Council to raise money for its loan proposals had met with a poor response, was emphatically denied by the Mayor (Mr T. Newburgh) at the meeting of the Sumner Borough Council last evening. He said that on the contrary there had been a splendid response by investors. The fact that £13,000 of 3£ per cent, debentures had been sold spoke volumes for the credit of the borough, and he was of the opinion that there was not another borough or city which could have shown a similar state of affairs.
