N.Z. CRICKETERS BEATEN

WOMEN’S TEAMS MEET m SYDNEY LOSS BY NARROW MARGIN OF RUNS (Received February 5, 12.45 am) SYDNEY, February 4. The New Zealand women cricketers went down to the South Metropolitan team by the narrow margin of seven runs. The New Zealanders were without their star bat, Miss Hatcher, who is still nursing an injured leg. Miss Hollis was the outstanding player for the New Zealanders. She scored 26 in a very bright style when runs were badly needed, and her excellent bowling figures were fully merited. She kept an impeccable length while four of her victims were beaten by sheer pace. Her full figures were 28 overs, 12 maidens, 32 runs, 6 wickets. Miss Thomas also bowled well, and the New Zealanders’ fielding generally was very sound.
