♦ LABOURERS SENT TO GAOL AT AUCKLAND , (PEEM ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, February 4. Warned that if they continued following a life of crime they might find themselves declared habitual criminals, two men with previous records were sent to prison by his Honour Mr Justice Fair, in the Supreme Court today after they had pleaded guilty to breaking and entering two Karangahape road shops early last month ana stealing jewellery. Harry Samuel Johnson, a laboure.. aged 33, who had admitted stealing 5s and a pair of shoes from another shop, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Harry Fielding, a labourer, aged 21, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. __ .... A country youth. Donald Merediln Harvey, aged 19. who pleaded guilty yesterday to knowingly receiving stolen property, stood in the dock with these two men, but was admitted to two years’ probation, his Honour saying that he had got into bad company, although that did not mean that the others deliberately led him astray. A factor in his lapse was the novelty of city surroundings after he had lived all his life in the country. Harvey was ordered to make restitution of property not recovered.
