MUSICAL COMEDY SEASON
FINAL PRESENTATIONS GEORGE GEE IN "NICE GOINGS ON" More amusing comedy and better farce even than in the previous presentations are provided in the J. C. Williamson musical comedy production, "Nice Goings On," which will be presented for the last three times of the Christchurch season at the Theatre Royal to-night, to-morrow afternoon, and to-morrow night. Many have seen, heard, and laughed at George Gee, the inimitable English comedian, in his antics on the stage; but he surpasses himself in the new play, which is irresistibly humorous. He is, of course, well supported by the principals of the musical comedy company, and the singing of the leading lady is an indispensable part in the success which "Nice Goings On" achieves. George Gee takes the part of Henscuttle, a civil servant so unlike any other that only Gee could play the role. As a comedian, Gee is as inventive and energetic as ever. He is the hard-working civil servant whose virtues are so obvious that no one thinks of recognising them by promotion. His fiancee, however, becomes weary of his perverseness, and goads him into acting on the advice of a social crank. He takes the advice and exposes a doubtful "club" in which his seniors are indulging in revels. Gee, unaware that his superiors were, present, finds that his discovery has the effect of a lever, and without pressing for promotion he finds himself made the controller of the whole department.
