MAGAZINE BAY AS BOAT HARBOUR
LYTTELTON BOARD’S PROPOSAL The "feasibility of constructing a boat harbour for small pleasure craft at Magazine Bay, between Corsair _ Bay and the township of Lyttelton, is to be considered by the Lyttelton Harbour Board. ' Members of the board, with the engineer and the harbourmaster, inspected both Corsair and Magazine Bays by launch yesterday, and the engineer will make a report on the possibility of constructing a piled wall from the western point of the reclamation area and enclosing Magazine Bay The area of the proposed boat harbour will be not less than 18 acres, The aim in providing the new harbour is to furnish accommodation for yachts and la undies and to lessen the crush in the present shelter.at Lyttelton, when the extra space so created
will be used for additional breastwork wharves. It is probable that rnly a few of the smaller craft will continue to use part of the existing site as a boat harbour.
