SHIRLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

♦ —— The first meeting of the Shirley Primary School Committee this year Was held on Tuesday evening, with the chairman, Mr S. J. Geary, presiding. The baths committee reported that the baths were very popular, and the recent painting and erection of extra seats were greatly appreciated. The new wireless _.:t which had been installed just before the close of the school year was proving very satisfactory, and would be of great value both to teachers and pupils alike. The chairman reported that the oaths and playing area had been asphalted, and the Canterbury Education Board had advised that the erection of a bicycle shed, and painting and repairing of outbuildings would be put in hand immediately. The headmaster, Mr T. J. C. Wilkins, presented the balance-sheet for the school fete held on December 4, which showed a credit balance of more than £63. ______________
