PAYMENT OF RATES The Lyttelton Borough Council nfttifies that February 11 is the last day on which current rates may be paid without incurring the 10 per cent, penalty. Transport Workers' Picnic The Lyttelton Transport Workers, comprising the waterside workers, seamen, and providore staffs of the vessels in port, will hold their annual picnic on Wednesday at the Amberley Domain. An attractive programme of sports has been arranged. The special train will leave Lyttelton at 8.55 a.m., stopping at all stations up to, and including, Addington. Magistrate's Court
At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr J. N. Neville, Justice of the Peace, James Manning, a member of the crew of the steamer Fordsdale, was convicted and fined £2 for disorderly behaviour in Norwich quay. Senior-Sergeant D. Wilson said that the accused was drunk, and was interfering with passers-by. Two of his shipmates tried to get him down to the ship, but he began fighting them. On a charge of drunkenness, Mannine was convicted and discharged.
