TRAMWAYS TEAM BEATS BLUE STAR TAXIS
A Christchurch Tramways team beat a Blue Star Taxis team by 52 runs on the first innings in a friendly cricket match. Batting first, the Tramways team made 132 runs. Commons and Browne, the opening batsmen, made 58 and 20 respectively, and were the only players to reach double figures. The most successful bowlers for Blue Star Taxis were Archer, four for 13, Fabian, two for 8, Fuller two for 13, and Symons, two for 24. After losing five wickets for 8 runs, Blue Star Taxis recovered and scored a total of 80 runs. The best scorers were Goodwin 34, Fuller 17, and Symons 14. For Tramways, Patrick took three-for 1, Trenbath two for 14, Alexander one for 6, Dawson one for 10, Commons one for 12, Cook one for 13, and Lukies one for 22.
