CROQUET
DOMINION TOURNEY AT WANGANUI NORTH SUCCESSFUL IN INTER-ISLAND MATCH (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI, January 18. The Dominion croquet tournament commenced to-day in ideal weather, but with a very gusty wind. The inter-island match resulted in a win for the North Island by the narrow margin of one match. Each won three singles, and the North had the advantage of two wins to one in the doubles. Results (North Island names first): — Singles A. J. Gibbs beat R. W. McCreath, 26-4; F. L. Hartnell beat G. Hart, 26-8; H. Stratton lost to H. A. Penn, 22-26; F. C. Bryan lost to J. Tannock, 16-26; Mrs Watkins beat Mrs Palmer, 26-4; D. McClymont lost to Mrs McLennan, 8-26. Doubles Stratton and Mrs Watkins beat Penn and Airs Palmer, 26-8; Gibbs and Bryan lost to Hart and Tannock, 22-26; Hartnell and McClymont beat McCreath. and Airs McLennan, 26-25.
