ANNUAL STREET APPEAL
♦ ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE ABOUT £3BO RAISED A drop of about £ 100 in the street collection alone, and anothei of about £2O from the other sources of revenue, was shown when the figures Of the annual appeal ol the St. John Ambulance Association were worked out approximately last evening. This year’s appeal is thought to have yielded about £3BC as against the £SOO raised last year. . , . ~ About £6O was raised by the Lyttelton, Rangiora, and Kaiapoi sub-centres, the sale of badges in the street brought in about £.140 and the donations received from city firms amounted to £l6O. The stall in Victoria square, organised by Mrs S. A. Watkins, raised more than £2O, among the items at this stall being cakes given by Mrs Evans and Mrs Sturge, which brought £6 10s, a cushion from Mrs Roberts, which made £2 7s 6d, arid competitions. In giving these figures last evening, the secretary of the appeal, Mr C. H. Kersley, said that the rain had probably had a very bad effect on the street collection, and the organising committee had had great difficulty in obtaining sufficient helpers to man the street corners. The committee was very grateful to all who had helped in the appeal.
