The terms of the new industrial agreement between the City Coun and the General Labourers Union were discussed by the council, an the agreement confirmed. It is ot par ticular interest, since it provides i an increase in the basic wage from 3d an hour to 2s 5d an hour. This represents an advance on m decision of the Arbitration Court. In reply to a question, the cnau man of the finance committee said m rate would be higher than that in operation anywhere else, oui assured the council that there be no noticeable demand made on t* l v .ratepayers.
