GIRL GUIDES
ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL REPORT
The number of commissioners, guiders, rangers, guides, and brownies in Canterbury and Westland is 1394, according to the report of the Canterbury and Westland Girl Guides’ Association, presented at the annual meeting. Of this number there are 836 guides and 324 brownies. There is a decrease of 372 on last year’s figures. Recruits awaiting enrolment number 245.
“As shown by the balance-sheet,” the report states, “it will be seen that our financial position is quite satisfactory. We have paid off all back debts, and are in the happy position of owing no man anything. The whole province joined together in an effort to get rid of debt, and the success of the effort is a striking example of what can be done by a firm and united effort.”
It is stated that work among crippled children has been undertaken by the rangers in various districts, and birthday presents are sent to each crippled child. A credit of £65 5s lOd is shown on the accounts for the year. The capital account shows an excess of assets over liabilities of £42 Os lOd.
