ISSUE EARLY NEXT YEAR KING’S HEAD ON PENNY AND HALFPENNY A new issue of penny and halfDenny New Zealand stamps will be >n sale early next year. They will Dear a representation of the head of King George VI, and will replace the present pictorial stamps. They will dc placed on sale as soon as the stocks >£ the current issue become depleted. On the pictorial New Zealand stamps now current there is no reference whatsoever to the Throne or to the [mperiality sovereignty, except for the ;rown appearing at the top of the [ourpenhy denomination. The new ssues will introduce the first Kings lead stamps to the current set. The new design, which has been proiuced from a photograph by Dorothy Wilding, and is similar m both stamps, ,s the work of an artist employed by Messrs Bradbury, Wilkinson, and Company, Ltd., who will print the lew stamps. . ... . The halfpenny denomination will be ntroduced probably towards the end Df February, but the penny denommaion not before May 1. The exact iates will be announced later, but the Post and Telegraph Department defires to make it clear at this stage that he date fixed for the introduction of he halfepnny stamp will be a common jne for all post offices, and that the same arrangement will be made later !or the penny stamp. ’
