POINTS FROM OTHER LETTERS
"Golden Memories" commends the effort of Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., to prevail upon the Government to complete the promise of securing and preserving for the people of Canterbury the Provincial Council Chambers. "Shirley," having been attracted by an article in "The Press" about the azaleas in the Millbrook Reserve, took some friends on "a journey of discovery" last Sunday, and has been in this reserve nearly every day since. Rach day there were more azaleas in bloom. She writes to advise others who may not have discovered Millbrook to lose no time in getting there "A. dull day or late afternoon appears to be the best time to see this wonderful corner," she says. With reference to "Ariel's" comments on the Olympia Radio Exhibition, recently quoted by "Listener" in "The Press/' Agnes Hill forwards a cutting from the Manchester "Sunday Chronicle." The item reports the breaking of all sales records in the history of the industry, the prospect of radio orders rising to £32.000,000. against £28,000,000 last year, and a 300 per cent, rise in export business to America. Shortwave sets "constituted 900 per cent [sic] of the total orders taken." "Bob C." contributes to the correspondence on "Volunteers in Spain" the opinion that there is no religious war in Spain but a clash of political ideals "When we see countries like Italy and Germany sending troops to Spain," he says, "we can feel sure it is not the party of individual or national liberty they are helping." Meanwhile America, France, and Great Britain "sit looking on."
