! PIERSON —MAUNDER i __ An evening wedding was celebrated at St. Andrew's Church, Hokitika, this week, when Phyllis Joan (Phil), t youngest daughter of Mrs J. Maunder, , of Rolleston street, was married to ■ Albert Ernest Frederic (Fred), young- ■ est son of Mr and Mrs Charles Pierson, of Kumara. The Rev. Murray Feist > performed the ceremony, and Mr R. ' Tennent played the wedding music. ; The church had been decorated with spring flowers by Mesdames S. J. Preston and J. Gutberlet. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr George Maunder, wore a long-sleeved maroon crepe satin frock, the bodice having a high neckline finished with a cream spray to match her cream straw hat. She carried a bouquet of hyacinths. The bridesmaid. Miss Kay Warren, wore a frock of green crepe satin, and her halo hat was of cream satin. She carried a bouquet of autumn tinted flowers. j The bridegroom was attended by Mr Les. Chapman, of Ikamatua. A reception was held later at Preston's Tea-rooms, where the guests were entertained by Mrs Maunder, assisted by Mrs Pierson. Mrs Maunder's frock was of black and white marocain, and she wore a hat to match, and carried a bouquet of marigolds. Mrs Pierson wore a navy suit and hat to match, and carried a gaily coloured bouquet. The bride and bridegroom left later for a tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a blue marocain frock, tweed coat finished with fox fur, and hat to match. Mr and Mrs Pierson will make their ! home at Ross. i DRENNAN— I'RITCUAKD I The wedding was quietly celebrated i at St. John's Church, Latimer square. ; of Isabel, younger daughter of Mr and j Mrs F. Prilchard, Cameron street. Ashburton, and Reginald Thomas, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. Drennan, WinI tcr's road. Ashburton. The Rev. J. T. McWilliam performed the ceremony. The bride, who was unattended, was I escorted by her father. She wore a ; truck of navy blue romaine. relieved with white, and Jack Tar hat of navy 1 straw. She carried a white Prayer ( Book. j The reception was held at Ballani tynes, where the bride's parents reI eeived the guests. Mrs Pritchard wore I 21 navy blue tunic frock, patterned in j white, and straw hat to tone. | Later Mr and Mrs Drennan left by ! car for the north. ROWLAND—BARNES I The wedding of Adelaide, youngest I daughter of Mr T. J. Barnes, and the ' late Mrs Barnes, of Riccarton. and John Rowland, only son of Mr and ! Mrs R. Cullen. of Burwocd. was celebrated at St. Matthew's Church, St. j Albans. The Rev. F. J. Feron peri formed the ceremony. Mr G. E. Wilson was organist. ! The bride, who was escorted by her i father, wore a frock of magnolia satin with rucked bedice, and satin rosts outlining the neckline, and edging the ' train. The flower-girl wore a frock of pale green georgette, and cape of darker green crushed velvet, trimmed with white fur. She carried a posy of primroses. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Godfrey Jackson. On leaving the church the bride was ! presented with a satin covered horsc- ; shoe by little Norma Hill. A reception was held at Dixieland, where the bride's sister, Mrs S. McI Kenzie. and Mrs R. Cullen received j the guests. ! Mr and Mrs Cullen left later for (he : south, the bride wearing a tailored ; navy costume, and a hat of navy velour. Henderson, and Miss Joan Cusack. and piano items by Misses Merle Cunningham. Joan Owens, and • Moira Gibson. Interesting diversions were provided by a tap dance bv Miss . Betty Carnochan. and an exhibition of the famous Indian snake rope trick by Mr Roslee Bickerstaff. Dance music was played bv Mr E. J Jenkins. The guests included Mesdames Cusack and Sturgiss.
