INTERNATIONAL SKI CONTEST

AMERICAN COMPETITORS LEAD CHRISTCHURCH GIRL WINS WOMEN'S SLALOM (Received September 14, 12.30 ajn.) MOUNT KOSCIUSKO, September 13. The American ski champion, R. E. Durrance, won the Australian slalom championship on Saturday in brilliant style. In the international match so far the UnKed States team has gained 100 points, the Australian team 7630. and the New Zealand team 73.91 points. Miss D. Allen, of Christchurch, woo the Australian women's slalom championship, with Miss P. Murphy (New Zealand) fourth, Miss J. Beale (NewZealand) eighth, and Mrs A. B. Edwardes thirteenth. The weather was fine and the snow was in good condition. Results were:— Men's Slalom—R. E. Durrance (America) 1, B. von Glaserfeld (Czechoslovakia) 2. S. Bradley (America) 3, G. Day (New South Wales) 4. D. Stogdale (Victoria) 5. B. McMillan (New Zealand) 6, J. Pattinson (New South Wales) 7. Women's Slalom—Miss D. Allen (New Zealand) 1, Mrs T. Mitchell (Victoria) 2, Miss Gepp (Victoria) 3. Miss P. Murphy (New Zealand) 4. Frau von Glaserfeld (Czechoslovakia) 5. Mrs Tinsley (New South Wales) 6. The Australian championship downhill contest, to be held en Mount Townsend, which was fixed for Sunday, was postponed because of thick The Australian championship ski jump, which was combined with the triangular international event, was held to-day. Durrance again won. with jumps of 35 and 40 met-es. S. Bradlev (America) was second. The New Zealanders. H. Wigley and B. McMillan, jumped 25 and 23i and 21 and 2H metres respectively. The Australian, Kaaten, fell in two attempts. Detailed results have not yet been determined, but the Americans have increased their lead in the match. The langlauf event wa- won by S. Bradley, with Durrance second. Day third, Kaaten fourth, and McMillan seventh.
