WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION

REDCLIFFS BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Redcliffs branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Methodist Hall, with Mrs A. Roberts presiding over a large attendance. Several new members were welcomed. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mesdames Stace and Beeby. An account of the Girls' Educational Week was given by Miss Jamieson. During the afternoon the drama circle gave a play entitled, "World Without Men." Competitions'were won as follows: Best bloom, Mrs Redmayne 1, Mrs Carter 2, Mrs Prebble 3; best handmade handkerchief, Mrs Redmayne 1, Mrs Tippett 2, and Mrs Bufch 3. Hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames Miller, Stace, Ebert, Mauger, and Miss Wyatt. BELFAST BRANCH Mrs T. Morton presided at the September meeting of the Belfast branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. The secretary was asked to send a message of sympathy to Mrs E. Rudkin in her illness. Members agreed to assist Mr Twomey in sending gifts to the lepers at Makogai. Members were asked to bring to the next meeting gifts for the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association. Mrs Morton gave an address on the recent conference in Wellington, and Miss Betty Northam and Miss Myra Morton gave a talk on the girls' educational course held in Christchurch. A competition for the best bloom was won by Mrs Farquhar, with Miss Myra Morton second. The hostesses were Mesdames Harris, Martin, and Maginness. KOWAI BUSH Mrs W. Smart presided at the September meeting of the Kowai Bush branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. Mrs H. Faulkner won the competition for an eggless cake, with Miss Bain second. Miss Douglas won a competition for the best bloom. During the afternoon members sewed peggy squares for quilts. Hostesses for afternoon tea, were Mesdames Smart and Howell. During the week the branch held a successful dance, the proceeds of which will be used to decrease -the hall debt. Prizes for best fancy dresses were awarded to Miss M. Duncan (Russell's Flat) and Mr Beaumont (Sheffield). Mesdames Belcher and Gold judged the costumes. The lucky spot dance was won by Miss Jean Harris and Mr Basil Scoon. During intervals, Mrs Mclllhinny, Miss B. Robinson (Springfield), and Mr Tony Cox sang solos. Mr Les Smart was master of ceremonies, and music was played by Miss Fraser (Springfield) and Mr C. Smith,
