MELBOURNE GAS STRIKE ENDED
RESUMPTION AFTER FIFTEEN DAYS' STOPPAGE MELBOURNE, August 27. The terms of settlement in the gas workers' strike were accepted last night by the Gas Employees' Union, and the men left the West Melbourne and South Melbourne works after a strike lasting for 15 days. . The workers will resume in the morning, but it is not expected that there will be a restoration of fullpressure gas for nearly a week. The terms of settlement include a 3s industry allowance, an annual bonus system and a basic wage of £3 16s. The men claimed a 6s industry allowance.
