RETURNED SOLDIERS' TOURNAMENT
It is proposed to hold early in November a one-day tournament open to war service amateur and professional golfers. This decision was made at a meeting last evening of a special committee set up by the Returned Soldiers* Association. The exact date and place for the tournament have not yet been arranged, but it was considered that the most suitable date would probably be during the November race week, when it is hoped to attract a large number of entrants from other centres in both islands. A Canterbury returned soldiers championship will be included on the programme. This will probably be the morning event, and the afternoon witt be aeI voted to a four-ball competition. It was resolved to circularise Returned Soldiers' Associations and golf clubs as soon as the date and place of the tournament have been decided.
