SHIPPING NOTES

The Waimarino is to complete loading here to-day lor Auckland and is to sail via Wellington.

The Taupata is to take in cargo here to-morrow for Nelson and nearby bays. The Holmdale Is to load here to-morrow for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Gabriella is due here to-morrow from Wellington to discharge cargo from Australian ports. The Breeze is timed to load here on Wednesday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wingatui is due here on Friday from Auckland and Wellington and is to sail for Dunedin.

The Karetu is expected to leave Lyttelton to-day for Sydney direct.

MATANGI TO RESUME

To-morrow the Matangi will relieve the Arahura in the Anchor Line's WellingtonNelson service. The Arahura will arrive at Wellington from Nelson to-morrow morning, and will withdraw from the service for overhaul and survey, the Matangi sailing to-morrow evening in her place.

MAHIA AT MONTEVIDEO

En route from Lyttelton to London and West Coast United Kingdom ports, the Mahia arrived at Montevideo on Wednesday morning. After discharging a cargo of potatoes she was to leave there 5n Friday in continuation of her voyage

BRISBANE MARU FROM

JAPAN

The O.S.K. Line motor-ship Brisbane Maru, coming from Moji, is to omit calling at Noumea this trip, and is now expected to arrive at Auckland on July 11. The Brisbane Maru brings cargo for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, being due at Wellington on July 15.

SCHOONERS WITH EXPLOSIVES

The schooners Piri and Miro, having loaded explosives from the Cornwall were to leave Auckland on Friday. The Piri will visit Waikokopu and Wellington,- and the Miro Gisborne, Kaikoura, and Dunedin.

RANGITIKI AT WELLINGTON

,_T he Han « ltl ki arrived at Wellington at 1Z.40 p.m. on Saturday from London Eleven of her South Island passengers arrived at Lyttelton by the steamer express yesterday morning, and 31 will arrive by the Rangitiki to-morrow morning.

PERSONAL

Mr J. MacNeil has joined the Waipahi as chief officer, relieving Mr T. A. Mack for holidays.

Mr G. V. Ward is now third officer of the Kartigi, relieving Mr J. F. Collins. Mr C. E. Pollock has joined the Kekerangu as third officer, relieving Mr B. S. Johnson for orders. Mr E. F. Rainbow is now second officer of the Kaiwarra and Mr B. H. Young second officer of the Poolta.

Mr G. D. Jensen recently joined the Kalingo as second officer, relieving Mr J. Billingham for holidays. Captain N. M. Bonnetti is taking command of the Koranui at Melbourne, vice Captain R. Duncan, who is transferring to the Ngatoro, to relieve Captain W, W. Fisit for holidays.

CANADIAN CHALLENGER'S ITINERARY

The Canadian Challenger is now due to commence loading at Dunedin on July 12 instead of at Auckland on July 9. From Dunedin she will go to Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland, clearing the lastnamed port on July 21 for New York. Boston, and Halifax.

THE WATCHLIN LINE

The Port Waikato and the Port Whangarei are now engaged in the trade between Auckland-Tauranga-Whangarei and Wel-lington-Lyttelton-Timaru-Dunedln. The Port Whangarei, in addition to taking Auckland cargo, will load for Tauranga and Whangarei, but will not call at Wellington on her trips north. The Port Waikato will load Auckland cargo at Dunedin. Tlmaru, and Lyttelton, and will call at Wellington on her north-bound voyages for Tauranga. Auckland, and Whangarei cargo. The Port Whangarei will load at Dunedin to-day, and will complete at Timaru and Lyttelton. The Port Waikato will load at Auckland to-morrow.

FIRST VISIT OF ESSEX TO NEW ZEALAND

The Federal Company was advised on Thursday that the new 11,500-ton motorship Essex sailed from Liverpool on Wednesday morning for New Zealand. She is due at Auckland on July 29, and will afterwards finish loading at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Although the Essex has already been to Australia, this will be her first visit to New Zealand.
