HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE

POSSIBILITY OF NEW STATION

Superintendent J. J. Mcintosh presided at the annual meeting of the Hokitika Fire Brigade, which had been adjourned last week. The annual report said that there had been four calls for the brigade during the last year. At one only had any loss occurred. The team which had represented the brigade at the Nelson demonstration had performed very creditably, securing one first, one second, and two thirds. The provision of a new fire station was being kept steadily in view. There was every prospect of the main difficulty, the securing of a permanent ti'%-; to the site, being overcome soon. The following officers were reelected: —Superintendent, Mr J. J. Mcintosh; deputy-superintendent, Mr L. S. Ross; secretary, and treasurer, Mr J. G. Lakin. "
