HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS

FOOTBALL CLUB'S DANCE Messrs C. H. McPhail, R. P. Round, A. W. Woods, and J. McK. Norrie (honorary secretary) were members of the committee responsible for organising the annual cabaret dance held by the High School Old Boys' Football Club at the Winter Garden last night. The dance is always a popular one with old boys of the school, and those who braved the uncertain weather yesterday were well rewarded, for the committee had made the comfort of the guests their first consideration. As their honoured guests members had invited Mr H. P. Smith, president of the High School Old Boys' Association, Dr. and Mrs W. S. Seed, Mr and Mrs Carl McGillivray, members of the English Association team, and representatives of the following football clubs: Collegians, Christchurch, Linwood, Technical College Old Boys, Sunnyside. CARNIVAL DANCE

A true carnival spirit prevailed at the Masonic Hall, Cashmere Hills, when the Cashmere Tennis Club held a carnival dance. More than 100 couples, including the Wilding Shield nnd Nunnerly Casket teams, were entertained. The committee is to be congratulated on the success of its efforts. A GAMES EVENING Ping-pong, charades, and competitions were enjoyed by members of the Christchurch Girls' High School Old Girls' Association at a "games evening," held last evening at the school. Sixty members were present. Games were played in the school hall, which was gaily decorated with autumn flowers, and supper was served on the main landing. Competitions were won by Misses Betty Jarman and Jocelyn Browne. The members of the committee in charge of the arrangements were:— Mesdames E. Hamilton, R. Glen, G. Maginness, N. Bates, C. G. M.
