ROYAL SOCIETY OF NEW ZEALAND

CANTERBURY BRANCH MEETS A special general meeting for prospective members of the Field Club section recently sponsored by the Royal Society of New Zealand, Canterbury branch, is to be held on Wednesday. June 16, to enable officers to be elected, and to decide upon the researches and activities of the new club. This announcement was made by Dr. B. S. Allan, who presided at the meeting of the branch at Canterbury University College last evening. The meeting of the club will be open to the public since membership is not restricted to members of the Royal Society. One of the chief functions of the club will be to assist in collecting material for the Canterbury Museum. It was further announced that a series of public lectures, such as had been held in 1934, would again be conducted this year, starting on June 7 and continuing weekly till August 9. An address, “Aspects of Government,” was given by Dr. R. R. D. Milligan, Dr. H. E. Field and Dr. O. H. Frankel proposing and second a vote of thanks.
