No driver's license —Frederick Charles Greenhalgh, 5s (supplying false information, ss). Cyclist being towed by motor-ve-hicle—Trevor William Gifford, 10s. Cycling on footpath—Robert Davidson Pirie, costs only. Failing to give way—Lloyd James Clutterbuck, 10s; Frederick Harold Forman, 20s; Kenneth Schollar, 20s: St. George Atkinson, 20s. Cycling at night without light—Sydney Roy Jones, 10s; Arthur Fairbairn, costs only; Frank Fielding, ss; Constance Mary Bradshaw, 10s; Ethel Dale, convicted and discharged; David Reginald Harvey, 10s; Jack Benjamin Hindin. costs only; Robert Kennedy, 10s; Russell Lyon. 10s; Martin Francis P. Failing to keep to left—Sydney Leicester Power, 10s. Proceeding against traffic signal— Charles Roberts, 20s (no license. 10s). Incorrect parking—Vivian Joseph R. Satherley, ss. Inconsiderate driving—Ernest Richard Truman, costs only. LABOUR CASES (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) A series of actions was brought by the Labour Department, represented by Mr R. T. Bailey. Edith G. McDowell, a pastrycook, of Victoria street, for not paying wages. to an employee in accordance with the award provisions, was ordered to pay a penalty of £2. She was represented by Mr C. S. Thomas. Benjamin Riseley (Mr R. A. Young), for failing to pay two employees in accordance with the Coach Workers Award, was ordered to pay penalties totalling £1 10s. Stanley Francis Clark (Mr T. Papprill) was ordered to pay a penalty of £1 for employing two youths on joiners' work without first obtaining the permission of the apprenticeship committee. Clark was also charged under the Factories Act with employing three workers for more than 41 hours continuously without an interval of at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal; with employing them for more than 40 hours a week, and with employing two workers without first obtaining a certificate of fitness. On each charge he was ordered to pay costs. O F Watson, licensee of the Lancaster Park Hotel (Mr J. K. Moloney), was charged with failing to pay a worker overtime according to award provisions, failing to pay award rates to a barman, and failing to keep a correct time and wages book. He was ordered to pay penalties totalling £2. Jack Sullivan, for signing an incorrect record of his hours -of work, was fined 10s and ordered to pay costs. LEESTON (Before Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) On a. charge of failing to keep a vehicle (horse and gig) as close as practicable to the left side of the road, Ernest A Pocock was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs. On another charge arising out of the same set of circumstances, of operating a vehicle at night without lights, he was fined 10s. Eileen Emily Martin (Mr Lyons) applied for an order of separation and maintenance from her husband, Henry Charles Martin (Mr Scott). The custody of two children was also sought by the complainant. After hearing lengthy evidence the Magistrate made an order for maintenance at 27s 6d a week, and for guardianship of the children. The application for a separation order was not granted.
