A CORONATION MEMORIAL
TO TBJS EDITOS Oy THE PBESS. Sir,—ln a letter to "The Press," Mrs T. E. Taylor very appropriately brings before the notice of pitizens the desirability 1 of establishing a permanent memorial to mark the coming Coronation of our King and Queen: and in requesting suggestions from your readers as to what form such a memorial should take, asks for comments on the possibility of erecting a concert hall and city organ in some suitable situation. In view of the unenviable mimical reputation that Christchurch possesses, I I do not think such a proposal would have the slightest hope of fulfilment. What, I believe, would prove very popular with the public—especially the youthful section—would be the establishment of zoological gardens, in a suitable locality, handy to the city, The City Council owns a large area in the Burwood district that is more or less waste land at present, and which should prove very suitable for such a project.—Yours, etc., H.H.N. April 27, 1937.
