APPOINTMENT OF UMPIRE [THE PRESS Special Service.} AUCKLAND, January 28. Mr C. E. Guiney, a former Canterbury Rugby and cricket representative, has been appointed an umpire in the Auckland-Wellington Plunket Shield match next week.
COLLEGE COLTS V. "THE PRESS"
A friendly cricket match between teams representing "The Press" and the Christ's College colts was played yesterday afternoon on the college cricket ground. Batting first, "The Press" team was dismissed for 113. The College colts, in reply, had scored 119 for eight wickets when stumps were drawn. Chief scorers for "The Press" were N. Archer (37), F. Agassiz (31),- C. Williams (15), and G. H. Jacobson (14). For the colts F. Woods retired with 44 and W. Thompson with 39. Bowling for the colts Woods took four for 22, W. Thompson three for 6, and R. D. Brittenden two for 6.
WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
DRAW FOR NEXT SET OF MATCHES
The following is the draw for the next set of matches in the Canterbury Women's Cricket Association's competitions:— Senior Grade—Mai Moa A v. Mai Moa B, Malvern Park; Beckenham v. Technical, Beckenham Park; High School Old Girls, a bye. Junior Grade—Millers v. Harewood, Malvern Park: Technical a bye.
