CYCLONE IN MINING TOWNS
HOUSES DEMOLISHED IN NEW SOUTH WALES (Received January . 17, 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 17. A cyclone last night struck the mining towns of Kearsley and Abernethy, in the northern coalfields. Three houses were almost demolished and several others completely unroofed. Considerable damage was done to shop ■wrindows. The electric current failed. The streets' Were littered with iron and other debris. The residents were terrified. Their troubles were accentuated by drenching rain. Nobody was seriously injured, although there were many lucky escapes. - ' , ■ .. ' " ■
