QUITE A SURPRISE
Jane, a little girl of six,, was in bed. Hanging,, on; the, end r of - the bed was a stocking. ■ "I wonder what Father Christmas ■will bring me?" she said. "I wonder,"' said her mother. Jane .was soon fast asleep. When she wakened in the morning she stretched out her hand for her stocking.
Then she heard a noise from a "basket with a lid on it, and a label tied to it "with love from mummy" ■written on it. She took the lid off and there, what do, you think she found Why!, a little puppy! —JILL MENZIES (aged 9), Decanter Bay.
