Mr Roosevelt, declaring that the murder of Dr. Mattson’s son had shocked the nation, said: “Every means at our command must be enlisted to capture and punish the perpetrator of this ghastly crime.” Mr H. S. Cummings, AttorneyGeneral, announced a Government reward of 10,000 dollars for the capture of the murderer.
