COLD MODERATES IN WESTERN U.S.
THIRTY DEATHS AND HEAVY LOSSES OF FRUIT (Received January 14, 12.30 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, January 13. The cold has moderated, after causing 30 deaths in western areas of the United States and damage of 12,000,000 dollars to the fruit crops of southern California, and of several million dollars in the oil fields and power lines of Texas. Record heat continues to threaten Florida fruit crops.
