CLERK COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE (PEESB ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) WELLINGTON, January 13. A plea of guilty was entered by George Paterson, aged 53, a clerk, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, after the hearing of evidence on a charge that between December 31, 1935, and November 26, „ 1936, he fradulently omitted to account to the Reliance Portrait Company, Wellington, for £236 12s, thereby committing theft. The accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. The evidence showed that the accused entered the company’s employ as a salesman in September, 1932, and was appointed cashier in 1933. On November 30, 1936, he failed to report tor duty, and was found drinking in a hotel bar. He confessed to defalcations amounting to about £l2O, and later, to a detective, he admitted the Whole of the offences.
