When she passed Pencarrow Heaa this morning, the Awatea completed the fastest crossing of the Tasman she has made since she entered tne service in September. The ship ion Sydney on the evening of Chris - mas Day and averaged 21.21 knot She made the passage from tn Sydney heads to Wellington hearts in 58 hours 22 minutes, which is » minutes better than her fastest and is a new record tor u« Sydney-to-Wellinglon crossing. The Awatea was not pressed in any way, and made the passage on five of her six boilers.
