DINNER PARTY
Picturesque hats, specially made for the occasion, and attractive. Christmas presents were distributed to the many guests at the annual Christmas dinner party of the Business and Professional Women's Round table Club, held: in the grey room at Beath's. The president, Miss F. L. Cooper, welcomed members and wished then, a happy Christmas. The dinner tables were decorated with Iceland poppies, pink sweet peas and blue cornflowers, and the lounge with Christmas lilies and poppies. After dinner amusing competitions were held, Hungarian lullabies were sung by Mrs William Gr •_, solos by Mrs C. Shaw, -nd elocutionary items were given by Miss Agnes Richardson. Mrs R. J. McLaren was accompanist for the singers. FAREWELL PARTY » A pleasant evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs J. Griffiths, "Glan-yr-afon," Tai Tapu, where the Christchurch Welsh Club held a surprise I party to say good-bye to Miss Joan I Griffiths, who is leaving Tai Tapu co live at Waiau. The evening was spent in games, musical items, and competitions. Mr Wynn Owen, president of the Welsh Club, spoke highly of Miss Griffiths's help to the club. Those present included Mr and Mrs J. Griffiths, Mr and Mrs Wynn Owen, Mr and Mrr Oliver, Mr and Mrs Jones. Mr and Mrs Morchcraft, Mr and Mrs Evans, Rev. and Mrs M. Ayrton, Misses J. 0., E. U. and B. Griffiths, A. Ayrton, P. and M. Olive , Messrs A. Ayrton, D. Suckling, O. and P. Griffiths, and W. Owen.
