RECENT SOCIAL GATHERINGS
COMING-OF-AGE PARTIES
Mr and Mrs M, H. Codyre entertained a number of friends at a party held in the Dickens Street Hall, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their eldest daughter, Doreen. The time was spent in dancing and games, the prize-winners being Mr and Mrs W. Codyre. Mr and Mrs W. McLaughlan, Miss Ann Cochrane, and Mr G. Nelson.
Mr J. Roberts was master of ceremonies, and music was supplied by Messrs Carl Diehl and .J. Sexton. Extras were played by Mrs D. Woods and Misses Elsie Wakefield and Marie Dunn. A duet was sung by Miss A. Cochrane and Mr W. McLaughlan.

A pleasant time was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs F. Carter (St. Martins) to celebrate the coming-of-age of their youngest daughter. Dorothy. Music for dancing was supplied by Banfteld's orchestra, and items were given by Messrs Woods. Hurst, and Ferns. Mr Welsh was master of ceremonies.

Mr and Mrs H. Hemingway entertained many friends and relatives at their home in Salisbury street to celebrate the coming-of-age of their elder daughter* Chris. Thei programme commenced with community singing led by Mr Carter, and later games, dancing, and a competition were enjoyed, the latter being won by Mr ■ H. Baker. Dance music was supplied by Mr C. A. Baker and Mr W. Marlow. Items were given by Misses E. Braisher, G. Kennedy, D. Stone, and Mr Carter. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs T. Marlow, Mr and Mrs W. Marlow, Mr and Mrs R. A pleasant evening w r as spent in the Oxford Town Hall, where Mr and Mrs J. Burrows entertained about 150 friends in honour of the coming-of-age of their elder daughter, Ivy. The hall was decorated for the c .- casion, and dancing was enjoyed to music played by Migs S. Knowles. Miss Iris Pateman danced a tap dance, ar.J novelty dances were won by Mr T. Thompson and Miss R. Harbidge (Monte Carlo), Mr I. Judson and Miss V. Skurr (statue), and Mr K. Debenham and Mrs N. Stevenson (lucky number). Mr F. Booth, of Hornby, was master of ceremonies. Calder entertained the staff of Lincoln College and their friends at a picture party given in honour of Mr and Mrs Scott and Mr and Mrs R. A. Fougere, who are leaving the district. After the party, which was held at the Regent Theatre, the guests adjourned to the United Service Hotel, where supper was served. Souvenirs were presented to the honoured guests. Others present were Mr and Mrs Ashton, Miss Hilda Calder, Miss Lilburne. Professor and Mrs Hudson, Mr and Mrs Hadfield, Mr and Mrs D. Sidey, Dr. and Mrs I. W. Weston, Dr. and Mrs M. C. Franklin, Mr and Mrs Morrison, Mr and Mrs Jones, Mr and Mrs Flay, Dr. Frankel, and Mr lan Blair. FAREWELL PARTY Mesdames K. Brake and E. M. Pye were hostesses at a farewell party held at the home of Mrs K. Brake ithe Esplanade. Sumner), to honour Mrs R. Atkinson, who, after a long residence at Sumner, is leaving to make her home in the city. During the afternoon, Mrs’ Brake, referring to the goed work done by Mrs Atkinson in the interests of the borough, asked her to accept from her friends a small token of their deep appreciation of her generous efforts and of their good wishes for her future happiness and prosperity in her new home.
