MATCHES AT WEEK-END

WEST COAST COMPETITIONS CONTINUED

There were better attendances at the West Coast Cricket Association’s competitions which were continued at Greymouth, Runanga, and Cobden during the week-end in ideal weather. A two-point win over Runanga was gained by Technical Old Boys at Runnanga on Saturday. Technical won by 123 runs on the first innings. Technical made 192 (Marshall 39, Restieaux 35, Lee 30. retired, Tindale 31, Gilbert 20). Smithson took two lor 28, Jenkinson two for 35, Hunter two for nine, Potter, jun., two for 14, and Potter, sen., one for five. Runanga replied with 69 (Jenkinson 20, Watson 14). Restieaux took four for 17 for Technical Old Boys, Gilbert two for five, Lee three for 14, and Blair one for two.

By 47 runs on the first innings Marlst gained a two-point win over Cobden at the Recreation ground. Cobden scored 112 (Waughan 44, Adams 17, Mcßain 14, D. Knapp 11). Bowling for Marist, Allsop took three for one, Cornish two for 11, Morris two for 28, Greenwood one for 14, and Mathews one for 19.

Technical High School inflicted a heavy defeat on Hector in a single innings match played on the Technical School grounds. The visitors’ innings realised only 32 runs, A. Murray (10) being tep scorer. Technical School replied with a total of 114 runs. The best batsmen were J. Metson (32), J. Smart (30), ana A. Broad (11). Bullpr Cricket Association A decision to take part in the minor associations’ cricket match against a Canterbury eleven at Christchurch on Wednesday, December 16, was made at a meeting of the managem t committee of the Buller Cricket Association on Saturday. Mr J. Metson (chairman) presided. Nine players signified their willingness to pay their expenses to play Li the minor associations’ team at Christchurch if selected, and tlw Selection Committee, consisting of Messrs T. Metson, E. Smith and V. Goodall, was instructed to place the names of available players in order of preference and submit them to the Ashburton Association for final selection. The secretary was instructed to write again to the Nelson Association enquiring whether the - propose to send a team to visit the Buller during the Christmas holidays. After the fixtures drawn up for December 19 have taken place, they will be suspended until January 16. BRUNER DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The second shoot lo- G.
