Escobar, defending the world's bantamweight title, knocked out Carloes Quintana after one minute 59 seconds in the first round with a short, beautifully-delivered right to the jaw. Quintana rushed from his corner, forcing the fighting, and landed three lefts to the head before Escobar drove a blow at all. Escobar was 1181b, half a pound more than his opponent.
