SAN FRANCISCO, November 13. The 77,000,000 dollar bridge across San Francisco Bay, the longest jn the world over navigable t waters, which links San Francisco and Oakland, was opened amid scenes of great entnusiasm. Mr Roosevelt, at Washington, pressed a button illuminating green xignts, whicn were tne signal for cars to start at tne rate of 200 a minute. Tne first car carried Mr H. C. Hoover and Mr Merriam. Tne bridge took three years to construct and 24 lives were lost in building the six-lane upper deck. The lower deck will be completed in 1938, and will carry trucks and railway lines.
