A Duller branch of the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance was formed a f . a meeting held in Gibbs's Motors buildings on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs C. Howard, P. Colvin. J. Menzies, K. Goodman, T. Humphries, Quarepel, and W, Carr. Mr Menzies was elected chairman for the ensuing 12 months and Miss Higgins was appointed secretary. It was decided to endeavour to obtain direct representation from the West Coast as a member of the New Zealand council of the alliance about both passenger services and goods services. The delegates attending the next meeting in Greymouth were instructed to ask why the letter dated October 29 forwarded by Duller members about the taxi enquiry and private tours was not read to the meeting. It was said that this was a most important letter, as it concerned the welfare of the passenger services.

It was decided to recommend the Greymouth centre to take up immediately with Mr Knight. secretary of the New Zealand council of the alliance, private business firms interfering with licensed operators by delivering goods in the country and picking up passengers, timber, and other goods as back loading, also the practice of private carriers employed by the Public Works Department on contract accepting work in week-ends.

Messrs Howard. Colvin, and Menzies were appointed a deputation to wait on the chief postmaster to recommend that, before a temporary license is granted enquiries be made from the secretary to find out whether an existing licensee could do the work. The schedule of prices for special passenger work was adopted. BRUNNER PERSONAL NOTES Dr. Fitzgerald, late of the Chatham Islands, has taken up residence in Wallsend. and has begun practice in the Brunner district.
