MISS BATTEN IN INDIA
FLIGHT FROM KARACHI TO ALLAHABAD

KARACHI, October 8,
Miss Jean Batten, who is flying from England to New Zealand, arrived here at 7.10 p.m. yesterday from Basra and left for Allahabad at 3.50 a.m.
On her arrival here, Miss Batten reported that she had encountered severe sandstorms over Jask, and she was compelled to fly at a height of 10,000 feet.
RECORD IN SIGHT
DEPARTURE FOR AKYAB
(Received October 9, 2.5 a.m.) ALLAHABAD, October 8. Miss Batten has arrived here a day ahead of Mr H. F. Broadbent’s record. If she reaches Rangoon on schedule she will have two dear days to complete the remaining 2500 miles and gain the record. Miss Batten left for Akyab at 5.5 a.m.
