PRELIMINARY FLIGHT

SAN FRANCISCO, October 8,
A Pan-American Airways China Clipper departed at 3.24 pm. (Pacific time) on the first of two preliminary flights before the regular weekly passenger service begins on October 21. It is carrying 13 persons, including the crew, five journalists, and a representative of Pan-Ameri-can Airways. The machine is due at Manila on Tuesday morning. The flight will be the culmination of four years preparation, including one year of test flying, during which 52 perfect flights were made between San Francisco and Manila.
