ASHBURTON REST ROOM

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir _i was somewhat annoyed on reading that the Ashburton Borough Council has decided to close the rest room on four days a week, keeping It open on Tuesdays and Fridays. I am not sure if it is not the duty of the Ashburton County Council to foot the bill for the upkeep of this room. I cannot see that it is much, if any, accommodation to the residents of the borough, but this room is a great accommodation to the residents of the outlying districts. To my mind, f these two bodies would meet each other halfway in the costs of the upkeep, this would be a way out of closing the room these four days a week, and enable it to be left open as usual. —Yours, etc., METHVEN.
