MISS BATTEN NEAR BAGDAD
RECORD TIME TO CYPRUS
FROM BRINDISI
LONDON, October 6
Miss Jean Batten, who is making a flight from England to New Zealand. arrived at Cyprus to-day, having made record time from Brindisi. She refuelled and left without delay for Bagdad. A message from Bagdad, however, states that Miss Batten landed at the Iraq Petroleum Company’s pumping station, midway between Damascus and Bagdad. She is expected at Bagdad to-morrow.

Miss Batten has arrived. Her achievement in reaching here in two days from London is highly praised, especially her splendid night flying across Iraq. She intends to fly to Karachi, and then to non-stop to Calcutta.
